After her daughter was killed by a bus in Kathalbari, Kurigram Sadar, mother Aduri Bala has now died along with the child in her womb. She died on Tuesday morning (27 October) while undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital. The deceased's father-in-law, Dulal Chandra Mali, confirmed the information.

Earlier, on Monday night (26 October) at around 8:30pm, six-year-old Monika Mali was killed when a bus hit them near Kathalbari Bazar in Kurigram Sadar. Her mother Aduri Bala (23), father Ananta Mali (26) and autorickshaw driver Mozammel (29) were seriously injured in the incident.

The seriously injured Aduri and Ananta were sent that night to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Aduri Bala died there while undergoing treatment.

Ananta Mali, who was undergoing treatment at Kurigram General Hospital on Monday night, said they were returning with his wife and daughter from his in-laws' home in the Kulaghat area of Lalmonirhat to their own home at Trimohoni in Kurigram Sadar. On the way, in the Kathalbari area, a Dhaka-bound bus of Pinky Paribahan hit their autorickshaw. They were thrown onto the road. Local people later rescued them and took them to hospital.

Ananta Mali's father Dulal Chandra Mali said: 'My granddaughter died last night. My daughter-in-law Aduri Bala was seven months pregnant. She died this morning. My son's condition is also not good. Everything of ours is finished. To whom shall we seek justice? I do not know whether we will file a case.'

Kurigram Sadar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Kamal Hossain said the process of taking legal action over the casualties in the accident is under way.
