The two-day '10th Land Forces Talks (LFT)-2026' between the armies of Bangladesh and the United States has ended, with emphasis on strengthening military cooperation, training and exchange of experience, and expanding the strategic partnership.

The meeting was held on Tuesday (27 October) at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment. Senior representatives of the two countries' armies took part in the meeting, which began on Monday (26 October), according to the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR).

The meeting held detailed discussions on various aspects of increasing military cooperation, developing skills and the strategic partnership. Representatives of both countries particularly emphasized joint training and exchange of experience, increasing capability in the use of advanced technology and military equipment, and expanding mutual cooperation.

The two sides also agreed on taking coordinated preparations and implementing effective steps to deal with natural and man-made disasters.

The Bangladesh delegation was led by Brigadier General Syed Ashikur Rahman, director of the Army's Military Training Directorate. The United States delegation was led by Major General Giles J. S. Cornelia, Deputy Commanding General for Strategy and Plans of the US Army Pacific Command (USARPAC).

Earlier, before the meeting began on Monday, the head of the US delegation, Major General Giles J. S. Cornelia, paid a courtesy call on Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman at Army Headquarters.

Those concerned expressed hope that such bilateral discussions will play an important role in further strengthening Bangladesh-US military relations, as well as increasing capability in the defence sector and expanding mutual cooperation.
