The daredevil couple who climbed to the top of New York City’s Empire State Building and caused a sensation are now negotiating a possible plea deal with prosecutors. Their lawyer confirmed the talks to Fox News Digital.

On Tuesday, Angelina Nikolau, 33, and Ivan Kuznetsov, 32, appeared in a Manhattan court for their latest hearing, a status conference in the case.

The couple, known for their stunts, scaled the landmark skyscraper in July this year to carry out a marriage proposal that later went viral.

After the incident, they were initially arrested on charges of reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, burglary and the misdemeanor of climbing a structure. They were then released under court supervision.

On Tuesday, a judge ruled that, as part of that court-mandated supervision, the couple no longer has to attend monthly "check-ins" with an officer.

Their attorney, Noam Biale, said they are "getting close" to a "resolution" with the district attorney’s office.

After Tuesday’s hearing, Biale told reporters outside the courtroom that his clients are "daring and pathbreaking artists whose performances have captivated people all over the world." He added: "They are beloved by New Yorkers, and no one wants to see any harm come to them."

The couple’s next court appearance is scheduled for November 12. Biale said he is confident and "hopeful" of a resolution before the end of the year.
