Ceiling Fan Falls at Muladi Health Complex, Two Children Escape Unhurt

A running ceiling fan came loose and fell in the patient waiting area in front of the emergency department of the Muladi Upazila Health Complex in Barishal. The incident happened around 6 pm on Tuesday.
Five to six people, including two children, were sitting and waiting there when the fan fell. The fan landed right beside the two children. Because it did not hit them, a serious accident was avoided.
Eyewitness Hafsa Begum said five to six people, including the two children, were waiting on four benches in front of the emergency department when a running fan above them suddenly came loose and fell beside the children.
None of the five to six people waiting there was injured in the incident.
After the incident, patients who had come to the hospital for treatment and their relatives expressed concern about safety. They feared that in such an accident children, elderly people and sick patients could be seriously injured.
Patients and relatives demanded that the hospital's old and risky fans be inspected and necessary measures taken.
Muladi Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Syed Fazle Rabbi said, 'An old fan came loose and fell. No one was harmed in this incident. The electrician has been instructed to check the condition of all the fans and replace the risky ones.'
