Gold Prices Rise After Repeated Cuts, 22-Carat Set at Tk 223,074 Per Bhori

After several rounds of cuts, the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) has raised gold prices in the domestic market. Under the new decision, one bhori of 22-carat gold has been set at Tk 223,074.
The new price took effect from 10 am on Wednesday (October 28). BAJUS said the new prices for gold and silver jewellery were set after considering the overall situation as the price of pure gold rose.
The decision was taken unanimously at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring at 9 am on Wednesday.
Under the new rates, 22-carat gold jewellery is Tk 19,125 per gram. With one bhori equal to 11.664 grams, the per-bhori price stands at Tk 223,074.
For 21-carat gold, the price is Tk 18,625 per gram, or Tk 217,242 per bhori. For 18-carat, it is Tk 15,685 per gram, or Tk 182,949.84 per bhori.
Traditional-method gold jewellery is Tk 12,825 per gram, or Tk 149,590.80 per bhori.
BAJUS also set silver jewellery prices. For 22-carat silver, the price is Tk 330 per gram, or Tk 3,849.12 per bhori.
For 21-carat silver, it is Tk 315 per gram, or Tk 3,674.16 per bhori. For 18-carat, Tk 270 per gram, or Tk 3,149.28 per bhori. Traditional-method silver is Tk 205 per gram, or Tk 2,391.12 per bhori.
BAJUS said making charges will apply according to jewellery design. As VAT is included in the selling price of gold and silver jewellery, no separate VAT can be charged to buyers.
Excluding making charges and stone prices, 12 percent will be deducted for jewellery exchange and 18 percent for purchase. No separate VAT can be deducted in exchange or purchase cases.
The new prices will remain in force at all jewellery establishments in the country until a further decision, said Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin, chairman of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.
