Very Severe Cyclone Arnab Completes Crossing of Andhra Coast, Signs of Weakening
The very severe cyclone Arnab, which was located over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, has completed crossing India's Andhra coast. It crossed the Andhra coast in the morning and is now located over Andhra Pradesh and the adjoining coastal area.
The information was given in a special bulletin on Wednesday (28 October) by meteorologist Md Tariful Newaz Kabir of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
The weather office said the very severe cyclone Arnab moved in a west-northwesterly direction and is now located over the coastal area. It is expected to move further northwest and gradually weaken.
However, deep convective clouds are forming over the north Bay of Bengal under the cyclone's influence, the bulletin said.
Under its influence, gusty or squally winds may blow over the Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra sea ports, the north Bay of Bengal and the adjoining coastal areas.
Considering the situation, the Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra sea ports have been asked to keep hoisting local cautionary signal number 3.
At the same time, all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the north Bay of Bengal have been instructed to move very carefully close to the coast until further notice.
