South African pace all-rounder Marco Jansen has climbed to the top of both ICC Test rankings at the same time. He sits at number one in the bowlers' list and also occupies the top spot among all-rounders.

The rise is a reward for an outstanding performance in the ongoing Test series against Australia. Jansen has taken 10 wickets with the ball in the first two matches of the series, while also contributing importantly with the bat.

His performance in the second Test was especially notable. Batting at number eight, he scored 85 runs. He then took 5 wickets for just 33 runs to dismantle Australia's first innings, playing a major role in South Africa's victory in that match.

On the back of that performance, Jansen has reached the top of the Test bowlers' rankings with 876 rating points. Mitchell Starc, Matt Henry, Ollie Robinson and Jasprit Bumrah have each slipped one place behind him.

The contest for the top spot is not over, however. Starc also took six wickets in the third Test of the series, so the next update could bring another change at the top of the bowlers' list.

Jansen's rise in the all-rounders' list is even more significant. India's Ravindra Jadeja had held the top position for more than four years, and the South African has now overtaken him to become number one.

There has also been a change in the T20I batters' rankings. India's Abhishek Sharma has reclaimed the top spot. In the first two T20Is of the five-match series against New Zealand he scored 29 and 27.

Abhishek then unleashed a storm in the third match, scoring 113 runs off just 38 balls. His blistering innings carried India past the target of 199, and India won the series 3-0.

Ishan Kishan was ruled out of the series through injury after the first match. It was Kishan who had overtaken Abhishek to reach the top in July. In his absence, Abhishek's fine performance has restored him to the number one position.

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has climbed four places to second in the Test batters' list. His 179-run innings in the first innings of the second Test against Australia was one of the foundations of the match-winning performance. England's Harry Brook remains at the top of the batters' list.

Brook has also advanced six places in the ODI batters' rankings after scoring 202 runs in an ODI against Sri Lanka.

Among other changes, Australia's Scott Boland has moved up three places to sixth among Test bowlers. South African spinner Simon Harmer has jumped 15 places to eighth in the all-rounders' list. Pakistan's Shaheen Shah Afridi has risen two places to sixth among ODI bowlers, while Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai has improved 13 places to take seventh.
