The Vice-Chancellor of Islamic University, Professor Dr A K M Motinur Rahman, has said that no decision has been taken to introduce an 'evening law' at the university. He said the campaign being run over the issue has not been approved by the administration.

The Vice-Chancellor made the remarks on Wednesday (28 October) at noon while speaking as chief guest at a farewell ceremony for MA 2023-24 students of the Department of Islamic History and Culture, held on the fourth floor of the Rabindra-Nazrul Kala Bhavan of the university.

"The campaign being run over introducing an evening law has not been approved by the administration. As Vice-Chancellor I am making it clear — no final step or thought has been taken on this matter. I urge the students not to be misled by these rumours," the Vice-Chancellor said.

He also commented that it is important to be aware of the basis and evidence behind information circulated on social media. If any doubt or question arises on any matter, he advised students to inform the administration directly through the chairman of the department concerned or the provost of their hall.

He also assured the students that the administration would consider such matters seriously and take steps to resolve them.

The ceremony, chaired by the chairman of the Department of Islamic History and Culture, Professor Dr Abdul Gafur Gazi, was attended as special guests by the university's Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Emtaz Hossain, Treasurer Professor Dr Md Idris Ali and acting registrar Professor Dr Atikur Rahman.
