At Least 68 Killed in Train Crash Near Toledo, Spain; Transport Minister Blames Incorrect Instructions

At least 68 people have been killed in a train accident near Toledo, Spain. The accident has been described as one of the deadliest in the country's history.
Spain's transportation minister said incorrect instructions led to the crash. In his words, an 'inexplicable' decision by traffic control operators sent a train on its way toward another train that was stopped miles in front of it.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez addressed the nation from the site of the train collision in Toledo province. There he expressed his full solidarity with the victims, their families and all those affected by the crash.
Following the accident, 24 Copa del Rey matches in Spain were postponed.
According to the transport minister, the immediate cause now identified is the incorrect instruction from traffic control: despite the stopped train's position, the moving train was allowed to proceed along the same path.
