Bangladesh's first innings folded in the very first session of day two of the Mirpur Test. Batting 97.4 overs against the West Indies, the hosts were all out for 272 before the lunch break.

The day had begun with relief brought by Sadman Islam. Left unbeaten on 99 when bad light stopped play late on day one, the left-handed opener completed the third Test century of his career on day two. But his innings ended on 105, leg-before to debutant pacer Bishop; a review could not overturn the decision.

Sadman's departure opened the floodgates. Hridoy, who had retired hurt with cramp on 42 late on day one, returned to bat on day two but was bowled by Bishop without adding to his score.

Mehedi Hasan Miraz could not build the innings either. He made 15 before being bowled by a Jomel Warrican arm ball, ending a 32-run stand with Litton Das.

Shamar Joseph increased the pressure with the new ball. Naim Hasan edged a delivery bowled at 141.2 kph to slip and departed for just 5. Hasan Mahmud, Taijul Islam and Shoriful Islam also did not last long afterwards.

Warrican was the West Indies' most successful bowler, taking 5 wickets in 23.4 overs. Joseph, with his pace, also played a key role in triggering the collapse of Bangladesh's batting line-up.

Earlier, on Wednesday (28 October), Bangladesh won the toss and batted, but the start was poor: opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim fell with the team score on 7. Sadman then added 59 for the second wicket with Mominul Haque, who made 28, and a further 42 for the third wicket with Shanto, who made 19.
