14 to Receive National Youth Award; Job Fair to Open Doors to Around 5,000 Jobs

Fourteen people will receive the National Youth Award on the occasion of National Youth Day this year. The recipients include four youth organisers and ten successful self-employed people.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque shared the information at a press conference held on Thursday (29 October) in the ministry's conference room at the Bangladesh Secretariat. He said the programmes aim to turn young people into skilled human resources and expand employment opportunities.
The state minister said the government is working to build the country's youth as skilled, self-reliant and capable human resources. National Youth Day 2026 will be celebrated across the country on 1 November under the theme 'Skilled youth will build the country, Bangladesh for all'.
The main inaugural ceremony of the day will be held that morning at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre. The President has consented to attend as chief guest.
On the occasion, the installation of 12,000 environment-friendly and sustainable biogas plants across the country will be inaugurated. The initiative has been taken to tackle the energy crisis and increase the use of renewable energy, the state minister said.
To expand employment opportunities for young people, a job fair with 50 renowned organisations will be held on 1 November. The fair is expected to gradually create job opportunities for around 5,000 people, and there is a plan to recruit at least 100 people on the spot on the day of the fair.
In addition, a seven-day National Youth Fair will be held from 1 to 7 November at the old trade fair ground in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital. Products made by young entrepreneurs will be displayed and sold at 150 stalls.
Before that, a colourful youth rally will be brought out from the Shishu Academy premises on the morning of 31 October.
The state minister expressed hope that if training, loan assistance and various development projects for young people are properly implemented, they will be able to play an important role in the country's economic development alongside self-employment.
