KM Enayetul Karim has alleged that his son, former Bangladesh Air Force flight lieutenant Tahsif Sauri, was murdered. "My son did not commit suicide; my son was murdered and thrown into the river," he said.

He made the remarks while answering reporters’ questions in front of the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital at around 2:30pm on Thursday, October 29.

He said the body had been moved from one area to another and dumped after the killing. "My son had a strong personality. He served in a force. He could never commit suicide. He was murdered," he said.

The father said that on Tuesday, October 27, the day of the incident, Tahsif had been with his mother all day and had gone shopping with her.

That evening, a man named Deep called Tahsif out, and he told his mother, "I am going to talk to Deep." He never returned after that.

His mother later called his personal number several times but could not reach him. Finally, after 1am, Tahsif messaged his mother: "Ammu, I am coming home."

KM Enayetul Karim said he had gone to Turag police station the next afternoon and was told no news had been found yet. Later, at around 5:15pm, a call came from Dakshin police station; after confirming his and his son’s names, the officer-in-charge told him a body had been found in the Turag River.

Saying the family does not know who carried out the killing, he said it would come out in the police investigation.

About Tahsif’s air force job, the father said the family had been told he was dismissed for disciplinary reasons, but they were not told what kind of breach of discipline it was. Afterwards he worked at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and at Netra News.

The body of the former air force officer was recovered from the Turag River on Wednesday afternoon, October 28. The Tongi outpost of the river police’s Dhaka region confirmed the recovery on Thursday morning, and the body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
