A supervisor named Mohammad Nazrul Islam, 48, was killed when two buses collided on the Padma Bridge Expressway in Jazira, Shariatpur. At least seven passengers were seriously injured in the incident.

The deceased, Nazrul Islam, worked as a supervisor for Ena Express. He was the son of Sattar Hawlader of Angaria in Dumki, Patuakhali district.
Police and local sources said a Dhaka-bound Narail Express bus stopped on the road at Kalu Bepari Kandi on Thursday afternoon to pick up passengers. A Dhaka-bound Ena Express bus coming from Patuakhali then hit it hard from behind, causing the accident.
Ena Express supervisor Nazrul Islam died on the spot. Seven more passengers were injured. After the crash, local people rescued the injured and took them to Life Zone Hospital in the Kalu Bepari Kandi area, where they are receiving treatment.
Enamul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Shibchar Highway Police, said police reached the spot quickly after receiving news of the accident and seized both buses. The injured were rescued and sent to hospital and the body of the deceased was recovered.
He said the body would be sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for an autopsy after the inquest report is prepared.
The OC added that in such accidents victims or those concerned often are not willing to file a complaint. In that case police file a case themselves to take the necessary legal action. If anyone files a complaint over this incident, it will be investigated and legal action taken.
