After its mechanical fault was repaired, Biman Bangladesh Airlines' VVIP flight BG-377 carrying Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has left Japan for Dhaka. The flight took off at 10:45 pm local time in Japan on Thursday (29 October).

Earlier, the prime minister's return journey was delayed after a mechanical fault appeared in the aircraft. The flight was scheduled to take off from Narita International Airport at around 6 pm local time.

Biman Bangladesh sources said flight BG-377, carrying VVIP passengers, was due to leave Narita International Airport for Dhaka. After boarding was completed, the aircraft was pushed back from the terminal. While taxiing towards the runway, a spoiler fault signal appeared in the cockpit. The pilot immediately cancelled the takeoff decision.

About 40 minutes after the scheduled time, the pilot announced from the cockpit that the flight would be delayed because of the mechanical fault and apologised to the passengers. The aircraft was then returned to its designated parking area in coordination with the control tower.

As soon as the fault was identified, engineers began technical inspection and repair work. As the repair took a long time, the prime minister and members of his delegation got off the aircraft. Other passengers were also taken to the airport lounge to wait.

Once the engineers' inspection and repair work was finished and the fault fixed, the flight began its journey to Dhaka at 10:45 pm local time.
