Claim that Japan will take 100,000 workers a year from Bangladesh is 'not true', says Japan's foreign ministry

Reports have spread in some Bangladeshi media outlets and on social media claiming that the Japanese government will take 100,000 workers a year from Bangladesh. Japan's foreign ministry has, however, rejected the claim.
Toshihiro Kitamura, press secretary of Japan's foreign ministry, said in a post on X on Thursday (October 29) that some recent social media posts have claimed the Japanese government has agreed to take 100,000 workers from Bangladesh. In his words, there is no truth to that claim.
Kitamura also said that no such matter was discussed at the Japan-Bangladesh summit held on October 27.
He advised those wanting details to read the account of the two countries' summit published on the Japanese foreign ministry's website.
