Garment worker Sakib killed in septic tank explosion at Naojor in Gazipur, two colleagues injured

A garment worker named Sakib has been killed in a septic tank explosion at an under-construction building in the Naojor area of Gazipur. Two of his colleagues were injured in the incident. The accident happened at about 7:15am on Friday (30 October) in the Naojor area.

Rajib Hossain, warehouse inspector of Gazipur Chowrasta Modern Fire Service, said that on the ground floor of an under-construction three-storey building in Naojor, two rooms had been built over a septic tank and rented to garment workers. Sakib and two of his colleagues lived in one of those rooms.

When the septic tank suddenly exploded on Friday morning, Sakib died on the spot. The explosion damaged the room's doors and windows.

Fire Service officer Rajib Hossain said the two colleagues were injured, but he could not provide detailed information about them.

Sakib's body was handed over to Basan police station, the Fire Service said.
