Tahsif's father wants the government to investigate his son's death on its own — the family has not yet decided whether to file a case

The family of dismissed Air Force flight lieutenant K M Tahsif Sauri has not yet decided whether it will file a case over his death. His father, K M Enayetul Karim, has instead demanded that the government, under its own laws, properly investigate the death and uncover its true cause, without attaching importance to whether the family files a case.
He said this on Friday (30 October) at noon.
K M Enayetul Karim said: 'As a family, we have not yet taken any decision to file a case. Whether we will file one has not been decided either. We have many engagements today and may not be able to decide this today. But we want the government not to attach importance to what we write, or do not write, at the police station, and instead to act under its own laws.'
He added that his son was a good citizen of this country and a member of the armed forces. He demanded a proper investigation into such a death and that the true cause come out. Rather than watching whether the family files a case, the government and all the forces concerned should treat the matter seriously and uncover the real truth, he said.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Habib, officer-in-charge of Uttarkhan police station, said he had phoned the late Tahsif's father and asked him to come to the station to file a case. He has not come to the station yet. If he comes, a case will be filed at the station, the OC said.
In connection with Tahsif's death, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has taken his 'junior friend' Deep into custody for questioning. Deep had spent nearly six hours with Tahsif before he went missing.
A senior law-enforcement official confirmed the matter late on Thursday night. He said PBI members had taken Deep away in connection with Tahsif Sauri's death, and that he knew nothing further in detail.
A police source said law-enforcement personnel took Deep on Thursday night from the third floor of a house in Block B of Babar Road, under Mohammadpur police station in the capital. Deep is the son of Selim Reza, a resident of that area.
CCTV footage from before Tahsif went missing shows him with a man whom family members identified as Deep. The footage shows the two meeting in front of a garage at the Rajuk Uttara Apartment Project in Sector 18 of Uttara at around 6:30pm on 27 October. They shook hands and then left on two separate motorcycles.
According to the family, Tahsif left home after receiving a phone call from Deep. Deep later told them that Tahsif's motorcycle had developed a problem, so they went to a workshop to repair it. After the repair, they returned home and ate together, and Deep then left, he told the family. Investigators are examining whether Deep had any involvement in Tahsif's disappearance and the subsequent recovery of his body.
At around 4:30pm on 28 October, police went to the Turag River after receiving reports of a floating body. Members of the Tongi naval police outpost later recovered the body from the Rajabari Ghat area. It was identified as Tahsif Sauri's from the wristwatch and the iPhone in his pocket.
The next day, Thursday, an autopsy was carried out at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. His janaza was held at 4:35pm at the central jame mosque of the Rajuk Uttara Apartment Project in Sector 18, Uttara. He was later buried in the Sector 12 cemetery in Uttara.
The true cause of Tahsif's death has not yet been confirmed. His father had expressed suspicion about his son's death and raised fears of murder. The family is waiting for the investigation to confirm the true cause of death and whether anyone was involved in the incident.
