National Citizen Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has demanded the resignation of Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed and Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku.

He made the demand on Friday at a mass protest rally at Shahbagh in the capital, where he spoke raising the demand for the two ministers' resignation.

Nahid Islam said that if the ministers do not resign, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will be besieged in December to realise the demand.

At the rally, Nahid criticised the government over price hikes, the energy crisis and the deterioration of law and order. He also criticised the government over the partisanisation of state institutions and a pro-India stance.

In the same speech, NCP convener Nahid Islam described Prime Minister Tarique Rahman as a 'new autocrat'.
