Bayern Munich the Only Unbeaten Big Club Across Europe's Top Leagues After 12 Matches

Staff Reporter

Across Europe's top 10 leagues, only one club remains unbeaten so far this season. That team is Bayern Munich, who have played 12 matches without a defeat.

The Bavarians are unbeaten in every competition — the Champions League, the domestic Bundesliga and the German Cup. Outside Europe, none of the five most-watched leagues in the world has an unbeaten club either.

In the Champions League, Bayern have one win and two draws from three matches. In the Bundesliga they have won five and drawn two of seven matches, which has kept them top of the table.

In the DFB-Pokal, the German Cup, Bayern have reached the next round with two wins from two matches, scoring 10 goals and conceding only two.

Harry Kane, a major contributor to the club's outstanding season, won the Ballon d'Or award for last season on Monday.

In England's Premier League, leading sides Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool each have one defeat. City recently lost to Aston Villa, Arsenal lost to a fourth-tier club in the Carabao Cup, City also lost to PSG in the Champions League, and Liverpool have a league defeat to Brentford.

Barcelona had made a superb start with 11 wins from 11 matches, but the Catalan club could not avoid defeat in two straight big matches — first 4-2 to PSG in the Champions League, then 2-1 at home to Real Madrid in El Clasico. In the league, Real have two defeats and Atletico one.

PSG are unbeaten in the Champions League but have one defeat in Ligue 1. The French champions began their domestic league with two draws before losing 2-1 to Monaco in their third match.

In Italy's Serie A, Roma, Inter Milan and Lazio are still unbeaten in the league. But Inter have two defeats against one win in three Champions League matches, Roma have one win, one draw and one defeat, and Lazio were knocked out of the Coppa Italia 2-0 by Serie B side Mantova.

In the Dutch league, Feyenoord are the only unbeaten team, though they have lost two of three Champions League matches. In Liga Portugal, Benfica and Sporting Lisbon each have one defeat while FC Porto are unbeaten — but Porto have lost all three of their Champions League matches.

In Belgium, Club Brugge have lost once, while Gent and Union remain unbeaten — though Union were eliminated from Champions League qualifying over two legs by Bodo/Glimt and Gent have lost one of two matches in the UEFA Conference League.

No club has avoided defeat in Turkey's Super Lig — Galatasaray and Amed SK have one defeat each, Fenerbahce and Besiktas three each. In the Scottish Premiership, Celtic and Rangers have each lost one match.
