The Oklahoma City Thunder will be without star Chet Holmgren for eight to ten weeks because of a right knee injury, in another blow in a troubling string of injury news across the NBA early in the season.

The Thunder said Holmgren began experiencing knee discomfort on Sunday. After discussions with multiple specialists, he underwent a biological treatment on Friday for a small tear in his patellar tendon.

Oklahoma City had already been hit by two major setbacks before Holmgren's news. The team was braced to be without Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace for potentially the rest of the regular season.

Williams sustained a broken left fibula and a dislocated left ankle on Sunday. Following his surgery, he will also be evaluated again before the end of the regular season, the Thunder said.

Wallace suffered a labral tear in his left shoulder. His surgery was performed on Friday in Los Angeles by Dr. Neal ElAttrache at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute, with Thunder medical personnel present. The guard will likewise be evaluated again before the end of the regular season.

The injury run is not limited to the Thunder. Earlier this week, ESPN reported that Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards was expected to undergo an arthroscopic procedure to address discomfort in his right knee. The procedure could sideline the three-time All-Star for up to two months.
