HSC pass rate at eight overseas centres is 90.87 percent, far above the national average

The pass rate at overseas centres in this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations stands at 90.87 percent, far above the 52.12 percent average across the country's 11 education boards.
Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon formally inaugurated the results at a press conference in the Ministry of Education's meeting room at the Secretariat at 11am on Saturday (31 October). The Prime Minister's education and primary and mass education adviser Mahdi Amin presented the detailed results.
Analysis of the overseas results shows 230 candidates sat at eight centres abroad this year. Of them, 209 passed and 21 failed.
One institution at the overseas centres recorded a 100 percent pass rate.
Nationwide, the average pass rate across the 11 education boards this year is 52.12 percent, and a total of 40,084 candidates obtained GPA-5.
Last year the pass rate was 58.83 percent and 69,097 candidates obtained GPA-5. Compared with last year, the pass rate has fallen by 6.71 percentage points and the number of GPA-5 achievers by 29,013.
Against that backdrop, the 90.87 percent pass rate at the eight overseas centres stands out in this year's results, although the number of candidates there is far smaller than at home — only 230 in total.
