No Student Passed the HSC at Nine Kurigram Colleges: All 70 Candidates Failed

In the 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations under the Dinajpur Education Board, not a single candidate from nine colleges in Kurigram district passed. A total of 70 students sat the exams at those institutions, and none of them passed.
The picture emerged from the results list published by the education board on Saturday (31 October). Among the institutions with zero passes, the largest number of candidates came from Char Shaulmari Adarsha Mahila College in Roumari upazila, where 24 students sat the exam.
Fifteen students sat the exam from Nageshwari Model College, 10 from Singardabrihat College in Rajarhat, and six from Singar Dabrihat B.L. High School and College.
In addition, five students sat from Kuti Payradanga School and College in Nageshwari, four from Chhilakhana Model College, three from Hazrat Fatema (RA) Poura Girls School and College in Ulipur, two from Dakshin Khauria School and College in Chilmari, and one from Pangarani Lakshmi Priya School and College in Rajarhat. No candidate from any of these institutions passed.
The district's overall result was also disappointing. This year 11,722 candidates from Kurigram district sat the HSC exams, of whom 4,773 passed. The district's average pass rate is 40.72 percent.
The pass rate for girls in the district is higher than for boys. Among 5,683 male candidates the pass rate was 35.95 percent, while among 6,039 female candidates it was 45.21 percent.
A total of 136 students in the district obtained GPA-5 this year — 59 of them boys and 77 girls.
Among the eight districts under the Dinajpur Education Board, Kurigram ranks sixth in pass rate.
Hafiz Ruhul Amin, principal of Hazrat Fatema (RA) Poura Girls School and College in Ulipur, said all three of his institution's candidates are married and could not study properly because of household pressure.
He said, 'We want everyone to pass. But it is hard to achieve good results if the students are not interested.'
Assistant District Education Officer Md. Abdul Hai Siddiqui said they look after the general secondary branch, while the higher secondary branch is directly controlled by the education board, so they are not fully aware of the details behind these institutions' result collapse.
