Several of the country's athletes had to sit their Higher Secondary examinations in the middle of national team camp training and preparations for international competition. Carrying on the twin battles of the field and the classroom, they have now succeeded in their exam results as well.

Among them are hockey twin sisters Himadri and Niladri Barua, football goalkeeper Mehedi Hasan Shraban, and table tennis player Khoi Khoi Sai Marma.

Of the two sisters, Himadri obtained GPA-5, while Niladri's result is GPA 4.83. Both members of the national women's hockey team are students of BKSP.

Because they were at the national team camp before the exams, they did not get the study time they had hoped for, and their expectations for the results were not very high. In the end, both are happy to have done well.

Niladri said, 'I could not sit the exams properly because of practising well. I did not expect much, but I still feel good seeing the result.'

The two sisters want to continue their studies alongside hockey. Himadri said, 'It feels good; I want to enrol at a good university in Dhaka.'

Table tennis player Khoi Khoi Sai Marma obtained GPA 4.67 from the science stream. Because of the exams she could not take part in the selection, and so missed two big competitions as well. But she is satisfied with her result.

Khoi Khoi said, 'It really was hard to do both together; because of the exams I could not give the selection, which is why I missed two big games, but the result was still unexpected — I feel very good.' She now wants to study at the University of Dhaka.

Four more players from the junior national table tennis team — Reshmi Tongchangya, Oishi Rahman, Nafis Iqbal and Abul Hashem Hasib — also passed the HSC exams.

Two football goalkeepers also achieved good results. National team goalkeeper Mehedi Hasan Shraban obtained GPA 4.71 including his optional subject under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board, while under-20 national team goalkeeper Ismail Hossain Mahin obtained GPA 4.25 from the humanities stream.

National women's cricket team pacer Marufa Akter also passed this time with a B grade. After failing one subject in last year's exam, she sat again this year as an irregular candidate.
