The government has taken a plan to build playgrounds under state initiative in all 4,599 unions across the country to make the sports arena dynamic. Youth and Sports State Minister Aminul Haque said land acquisition work is also under way to build stadium grounds at the upazila level.

He made the remarks on Saturday afternoon, October 31, after visiting the Rangpur District Stadium ground and joining the closing and certificate distribution ceremony of volleyball and handball training.

The state minister said the sports ministry is committed to working for positive change in society and the state through healthy sporting practice.

He said the highest importance in modernising district-level stadium grounds will be given to Rangpur's Shaheed Abu Sayeed Stadium.

From next January, a year-round calendar will be published for organising all kinds of sports including cricket, hockey and shooting, the state minister said. Events will be held simultaneously across the country according to that calendar.

At the time, State Minister Aminul Haque also spoke of taking action against people involved in corruption in the sports arena in the past.

Certificates were distributed among the trainees at the ceremony. He later left for Kurigram.

Rangpur Development Authority Chairman Samsuzzaman Samu, Rangpur City Corporation Administrator Advocate Mahfuz Un-Nabi Don, reserved women's seat lawmaker Advocate Rezeka Sultana Fensi and other leaders of the district sports association were present at the ceremony.
