Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) stands at the top among the country's science and technology universities in the number of research publications indexed in the international research database Scopus. From 2023 to 2025, a total of 1,374 research publications by the university's researchers were included in the list.

The information came from a list published by Research Hub, based on the latest institution-wise Scopus search statistics from late October 2026.

According to the list, Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) is second among the country's science and technology universities, and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) is third.

In the overall list covering 167 public and private universities in the country, JUST ranks 16th. The University of Dhaka is first overall, Daffodil International University second and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) third.

Five indicators were considered in ranking the universities. Total research publications carried 60 percent weight, total citations 20 percent, average citations per publication 10 percent, the rate of international participation in research 5 percent and institutional H-index 5 percent.

According to the list, the 1,374 research publications by JUST researchers over the three years from 2023 to 2025 were taken into account. Those papers have been cited a total of 18,619 times.

The average number of citations per paper is 13.6, the rate of international participation in research is 58.6 percent, and the university's institutional H-index is 56.

On the achievement, JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Earul Kabir said it was the teachers' efforts and sincerity towards research that made the first position in Scopus-indexed research publications among science and technology universities possible. He called it a matter of great pride for the university.

Thanking the university's teachers and students, the vice-chancellor said the university is providing teachers with necessary laboratory facilities and overall support for the advancement of research, and that support would continue in future.

He expressed hope that through collective effort and a research-friendly environment, JUST would reach an even better position in research in the coming days.

Scopus is known as one of the world's largest international research databases.
