The Kolkata organisation Bangasena held a programme to lay siege to the Bangladesh mission in Kolkata, demanding security for minorities in Bangladesh, a separate state for Sanatanis, and the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das.

On Saturday (31 October), as the procession marched from Sealdah towards the Bangladesh mission at Park Circus, the situation briefly grew heated. But the protesters could not get near the mission because of tight security and barricades put up by Kolkata police, who were prepared in advance.

Bangasena members began the march from Sealdah railway station on Saturday. More than a hundred men and women in saffron clothing took part, along with monks and nuns. Chanting slogans for their various demands, the procession moved towards the Bangladesh mission.

As the procession approached the mission, police stopped it with barricades. The protesters were halted about 300 yards from the mission, and they held their slogans and demonstration programme at that spot.

Traffic in the Park Circus area adjoining the Bangladesh mission was disrupted for some time because of the protest. However, due to the Kolkata police's prompt action, the situation did not go out of control.

As the mission was closed that day, the protesters could not submit any memorandum.
