Deadly October for Dengue: 174 Deaths in One Month, Year's Total Passes All of Last Year

October has become the deadliest month of the year for dengue. According to the Directorate General of Health Services, 174 people died of dengue in October alone, the highest for any month this year.
According to the health directorate, a total of 419 people have died of dengue this year up to 31 October. That figure has already exceeded the total deaths of the whole of last year (2025), which was 413 — meaning this year's toll has passed last year's full count before the year has ended.
October has accordingly been identified so far as the month with the most deaths this year.
Experts have warned that the dengue outbreak in Bangladesh is unlikely to decline significantly before December.
To control the situation, the health directorate has advised keeping standing water around homes cleaned.
It has also advised using mosquito nets while sleeping during the day and contacting a hospital quickly as soon as fever appears.
