Woman, 28, Critically Injured in Stabbing While Jogging in Brooklyn, New York; No Suspect Identified

A 28-year-old woman has been critically injured after being stabbed while jogging along a waterfront path in Brooklyn, New York City. She was stabbed multiple times in the neck, the New York Police Department (NYPD) said.
Police said that at around 8 p.m. on Friday, the woman was jogging eastbound along the Shore Parkway Greenway near Shore Parkway and Bay 17th Street in Brooklyn's Bath Beach neighbourhood when she was stabbed multiple times in the neck.
Emergency medical personnel transported her to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn in critical condition. An NYPD spokesperson confirmed on Saturday that the woman remained alive.
Police have not released her identity. The spokesperson said investigators have not identified a suspect.
The New York Post reported, citing police sources, that the woman had been training for Sunday's New York City Marathon. New York Road Runners (NYRR), which organises the marathon, said in a statement: 'We were sad to hear of this horrible attack — our hearts are with her family and the running community.'
NYRR also said its records show the woman had previously participated in its races, but it could not confirm whether she planned to run in Sunday's marathon.
It was not immediately clear what led up to the attack or whether the victim knew her attacker. According to the Post, the attack occurred along a section of the waterfront path overlooking Gravesend Bay, with views of Staten Island and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.
Police are asking the public for help. Information can be given through the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or through the department's Crime Stoppers website, and all tips are confidential.
