Iran Sets Seven Conditions Before Talks with the US and Reopening Hormuz

Iran has demanded the fulfilment of seven conditions before starting peace talks with the United States and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The country's security chief, Mohsen Rezaei, said Tehran presented these conditions to Washington back in September. However, he did not give details about several of the conditions.
Earlier, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi gave details on the matter. He presented a list of the conditions.
Iran's conditions include the withdrawal of the sanctions the United States imposed on Tehran after the Islamabad memorandum of understanding (MOU) broke down last July.
The conditions also include reducing the US military presence in the Middle East and restoring the oil export waiver given in June as part of that understanding.
Tehran has also demanded the release of Iranian funds held in Qatar and other places.
The list also includes formally recognising the new shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz set by Iran and Oman, and closing all other shipping routes.
Iran's remaining conditions include ending the war on all fronts, especially stopping Israel's attacks in Lebanon.
Earlier, in September, Rezaei had also demanded the withdrawal of the US naval blockade on Iranian ports. At the same time, he demanded an end to Washington's interference in the country's internal affairs.
Rezaei described US cooperation with opponents of Iran's revolution as interference in the country's internal affairs.
Tehran says only if these conditions are met will the way be created to start peace talks with the United States and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
