Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton Named Convener of BNP's Dhaka North City Unit, Jahangir Member Secretary

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a two-member partial convening committee for its Dhaka Metropolitan North unit. Shafiqul Islam Khan (Milton), administrator of the Dhaka North City Corporation, has been made convener, and SM Jahangir Hossain, MP for Dhaka-18, has been given the responsibility of member secretary.
The formation of the new convening committee was announced on Sunday night (November 1) in a press release signed by BNP Assistant Office Secretary Muhammad Munir Hossain. The release said a full convening committee for the unit must be formed within the next two weeks.
The important organisational unit of the BNP got new leadership more than a month after the previous convening committee was dissolved. Earlier, the 51-member convening committee of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP was dissolved, a decision also announced in a release signed by Muhammad Munir Hossain. Aminul Haque was the convener of that committee and Mostafa Zaman its member secretary.
Shafiqul Islam Khan is a vice-president of the Jubo Dal central committee. He previously served as member secretary of the Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo Dal. He was the BNP's candidate for the Dhaka-15 seat in the 13th national parliamentary election.
SM Jahangir Hossain was a joint convener of the recently dissolved Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP committee. Before that, he served as president of the Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo Dal.
