New BNP Dhaka North Committee: Milton Made Convener, Jahangir Member Secretary

Staff Reporter

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced new leadership for its Dhaka Metropolitan North unit. In a two-member partial convening committee, Dhaka North City Corporation administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton has been made convener and Member of Parliament SM Jahangir Hossain has been made member secretary.

The approval of the new committee was announced on Sunday in a press release signed by BNP assistant office secretary Muhammad Munir Hossain.

The release said the newly formed two-member partial convening committee must form a full convening committee within the next two weeks.

Party sources said a partial committee comprising only the convener and the member secretary has been announced for now. The new leadership has been tasked with completing the organisational structure of the metropolitan north unit by forming the full committee within the stipulated time.

New convener Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton currently serves as the administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation, while member secretary SM Jahangir Hossain is a sitting member of parliament. As a result, a person in charge of local government administration and an MP now hold the unit's top two organisational posts.

BNP's Dhaka Metropolitan North unit runs party activities across the capital's thanas, wards and units, coordinates among leaders and activists, and implements organisational programmes. The new leadership's assumption of office marks a fresh chapter in running the unit's activities.

However, the release named no one for the full committee. Attention among metropolitan-level leaders and activists will now be on the full committee to be announced within two weeks.
