Police Headquarters seeks case and discipline records of 357 officers by November 3

Police Headquarters has sought information on criminal cases and departmental discipline against 357 officers of the 30th and 31st batches of the BCS police cadre. Various police units across the country have been instructed to send the information by November 3. The listed officers include 179 from the 30th BCS and 178 from the 31st BCS.
The instruction came in a letter sent on Sunday from the Crime Analysis branch of Police Headquarters. The letter asks whether any criminal case exists against the officers concerned and, if so, the latest status and updated information on the case. The information must be sent to Police Headquarters in both hard copy and soft copy within the stipulated time.
The letter, signed by AIG (Crime Analysis) Mohammad Saifullah, was sent to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner, the additional IG of Railway Police, DIGs of various ranges and commissioners of metropolitan police.
Police Headquarters sources said that last Thursday (October 29) the Personnel Management-1 branch had also directed that departmental discipline and criminal case information on the officers concerned be sent on an urgent basis. Following on from that, the Crime Analysis branch has now sent letters to various police units seeking the same kind of information.
All 357 listed officers hold the rank of additional superintendent of police or additional deputy police commissioner. They are serving in various police units including Police Headquarters, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), the Armed Police Battalion (APBN), various ranges and district police, Highway Police, Industrial Police and in-service training centres.
Alongside the officers' current workplaces, the list also notes special circumstances for a few. One officer is shown as suspended, while another is recorded as serving on deputation at the Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
However, the Police Headquarters letter contains no information or decision that all 357 listed officers face criminal cases. The information has been sought essentially to verify whether cases exist against them, what the current status of any case is, and whether any departmental disciplinary action has been taken. After reviewing the collected information, Police Headquarters may take the next steps, according to the sources concerned.
