National Youth Day in Pabna's Kashinathpur: 70 students from 8 institutions join speech and quiz contests

National Youth Day 2026 has been observed in Kashinathpur, in Pabna's Santhia upazila, under the theme 'Skilled youth will build the country, Bangladesh for all'. A day-long programme was held in Kashinathpur to engage the young generation in creative and thoughtful activities.
Around 70 students from 8 educational institutions in the greater Kashinathpur area took part in the event, organised by the local voluntary organisation Prayas Jubo Unnayan Sangha. Essay, speech and quiz competitions were arranged to develop the students' talent and thinking.
The essay and speech topics included the Liberation War and the Language Movement, the July mass uprising, the blood donation movement, prevention of drug addiction and child marriage, and the book-reading movement and proper use of technology. A quiz competition on general knowledge and miscellaneous subjects was also held.
Dr Md Hafizur Rahman, an instructor at the Primary Education Training Centre in Bera upazila, attended as chief guest and chief judge. Prizes were distributed among the winners at the end of the competitions.
Speaking at the prize distribution, Dr Md Hafizur Rahman said organising such creative and thoughtful programmes with young people deserves high praise. Keeping adolescents and youths engaged in creative work alongside their studies can protect them from going astray, and properly using youth power in competitive and welfare activities will ensure sustainable development of society and the country, he said.
Prayas Jubo Unnayan Sangha president S M Mahiruddin Kali said the more the country's energetic youth power is used properly, the more prosperity the nation will achieve. He said the organisation is working so that youths in villages, not only in big cities, can play a leading role in positive social change.
S M Mahiruddin Kali also said the organisation has taken an initiative to provide various job-oriented training to unemployed youths in Pabna. Alongside sports and cultural activities, practical steps are being taken to make young people economically self-reliant, he said.
The day-long programme ended with an oath. Guests, members of the organising body and participating students pledged to work together to prevent drugs and to build a beautiful, prosperous and progressive society.
