The busiest and slowest time to shop at the US warehouse retailer Costco may be Sunday from 11am to 2pm, according to a report by Simply Recipes, which said crowds peak during those hours.

One Reddit user wrote that they stopped by once on a Sunday afternoon just to see how it was, found it crazy, and would never do it again. Another said they had learned the hard way not to shop on Sundays, recalling a line that snaked all the way to the back of the store.

Weekends naturally draw large traffic to grocery stores, the report noted, as many people are off work and stock up for the week ahead.

Midweek shopping can be difficult for those who work from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday. Shopping on a Monday might make for a more peaceful experience because of fewer crowds, the report said.

For fully stocked shelves, visiting on a Tuesday or Wednesday may be wiser, Southern Living noted, as the store's supplies are most likely to have been replenished by then.

One Reddit user said that, having lived all over the country, Tuesdays earlier in the day seemed to be the best option, and advised avoiding Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday at any time, calling Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday generally safe bets.

Fox News Digital reached out to Costco, headquartered in Issaquah, Washington, for comment.
