Workers clash with police in Ashulia, tear shells fired; most factories along the road declare a general holiday

Chases, counter-chases and clashes have taken place between workers and police in Ashulia, Savar. Police fired several rounds of tear shells to bring the situation under control. No casualties were immediately reported in the incident.
The clashes began after 10am on Monday (November 2) in the Narsinghapur and Nishchintapur areas of the Abdullahpur-Baipail road.
Eyewitnesses said workers first gathered in the morning in front of an Ananta Group factory. They later went in front of a Ha-Meem Group factory and threw brickbats there.
When factory workers tried to block the road with various demands, tension arose between them and members of the law enforcement agencies. At one stage, chases and counter-chases began between the workers and the police.
To bring the situation under control, police fired tear shells in an attempt to disperse the workers.
Because of the situation, most factories along the Abdullahpur-Baipail road declared a general holiday.
