High Court stays cancellation of Fazil-Kamil madrasa governing bodies
The High Court has stayed the Islamic Arabic University's decision cancelling the governing bodies of Fazil and Kamil madrasas across the country.
A High Court bench of Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi and Justice Fatema Anwar passed the order on Monday (November 2).
Advocate Parvez Hossain took part in the hearing on behalf of the writ petition in court.
Earlier, on October 19, the Islamic Arabic University (IAU) authorities cancelled the governing body committees of Fazil-Kamil madrasas across the country.
The information was conveyed in an office order signed by the university's registrar, Professor Dr A K M Nurul Islam. The order said the governing body committees of the Fazil and Kamil madrasas run under the IAU were cancelled in line with a decision of the university's 43rd syndicate meeting held on October 15.
The order further said that, for forming ad hoc committees under clause (1) Kha (1), (3) of section (Kha) of the Islamic Arabic University Third Statute-2023, the deputy commissioner of the district concerned was nominated as president for madrasas located at district headquarters and the additional deputy commissioner for madrasas outside district headquarters, while the district education officer at district level and the upazila secondary education officer at upazila level were nominated as education-enthusiast members.
In the same office order, the madrasas were requested, by order, to send proposals for approval of ad hoc committees in the prescribed form in accordance with the rules at the earliest possible time.
