Big Jump in LPG Price: 12kg Cylinder Up by Tk 223 to Tk 2,060, Autogas Also Costlier

The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has gone up again. The price of a 12kg LPG cylinder has been raised by Tk 223 to Tk 2,060, with the new price taking effect after 8pm on Monday (2 November).
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the new LPG price on Monday. The 12kg cylinder previously cost Tk 1,837.
BERC said the increase was driven by higher prices in the international market, alongside raised commissions for importers, dealers and retailers.
In the same order, BERC also raised the price of autogas used in vehicles. The per-litre price of autogas has gone up from Tk 84.62 to Tk 91.95. In September, autogas cost Tk 73.09 per litre.
As part of the adjustment, sellers' commissions and charges have also been increased. Importers' storage and bottling charges — including transport costs from the operator's plant to the distributor — have been raised for a 12kg cylinder from Tk 200 to Tk 281.76.
Dealers' charges have been raised from Tk 50 to Tk 85, and the retailer's commission from Tk 45 to Tk 70.
Earlier, in October, the price of a 12kg cylinder had been raised by Tk 252 to Tk 1,837. Yet there are complaints that cylinders are not available at the declared price — in the capital itself they are selling for Tk 2,200 to Tk 2,300.
That leaves a question over whether consumers will have to pay even more in the retail market after the new announcement. BERC's new prices are due to take effect after 8pm.
