Wage Protest in Ashulia: At Least 60 Factories Declare General Holiday
At least 60 factories in Ashulia, Savar, have declared a general holiday amid workers' protests demanding a wage increase.
Sarwar Alam, superintendent of police of Ashulia Industrial Police, said at around 11am that all the factories had opened. After workers walked out, a general holiday had so far been declared at an estimated 60 factories.
He said protesters could not block any road in Narsingpur and Nishchintapur. Police applied force and kept all roads moving; no one was able to block a road.
