Nahida to Lead Bangladesh at Emerging Nations Trophy, Jyoti in Squad as Batter

Staff Reporter

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the ICC Women's Emerging Nations Trophy, to be held in the United Arab Emirates. Experienced spinner Nahida Akter will lead the Bangladesh women's team in the tournament.

Regular national captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti has stepped aside from the captaincy for this tournament, handing the role to Nahida. Jyoti, however, remains in the squad as a batter.

Young batter Sobhana Mostary has been named vice-captain to the new skipper. The cricket board has built the leadership group around a mix of experience and youth.

The batting unit includes experienced batter Sharmin Akter Supta, rising talent Swarna Akter, all-rounder Ritu Moni, wicketkeeper-batter Dilara Akter and batter Sathi Rani.

The bowling attack combines spin and pace. Leg-spinner Rabeya Khan and pacers Disha Biswas and Farhia Islam Trishna have earned places, while the spin department features experienced Fahima Khatun alongside Juiaria Ferdous, Jannatul Ferdous Sumona and left-arm spinner Sanjida Akter Meghla.

The Bangladesh team will leave for the United Arab Emirates on November 10 to take part in the tournament, where the balanced squad will compete for the title in Emirati conditions.
