The garment workers' protest in Bangladesh entered its fourth consecutive day on Tuesday. After several factories in Dhaka's Mirpur area partially reopened in the morning, tension rose again in the area.

As operations slowly resumed, workers had initially begun returning to the factories. But the situation heated up again when garment workers came out of the factories and took to the streets. Police were deployed to bring the situation under control and prevent further deterioration.

Meanwhile, India is closely monitoring the garment workers' protest in Bangladesh. Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India's Ministry of External Affairs, gave the information at the ministry's regular press briefing on Tuesday.

Jaiswal said, 'We are observing the situation in Bangladesh. Various incidents have taken place there and we are following those developments. As far as India-Bangladesh relations are concerned, we want to work towards a positive, future-oriented and constructive relationship.'

On bilateral water management, particularly the Ganges water treaty, the spokesperson said any discussion on shared water resources would be conducted through established bilateral mechanisms. He said India and Bangladesh have a Joint River Commission, which is the structured mechanism for discussions on all transboundary rivers, including the Ganges.

Jaiswal also spoke about the status of an upcoming high-level diplomatic meeting between New Delhi and Dhaka. He said, 'We have already invited the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to visit India, and if there is any new information on this, I will let you know.'
