BCB forms five-member special committee for women cricketers to report sexual harassment
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken a new step for the country's women cricketers. To ensure a safe and satisfactory environment for players and to allow them to report complaints of sexual harassment, the game's national governing body has formed a five-member committee.
Supreme Court lawyer and legal expert Barrister Rashna Imam has been made head of the independent committee. The other members named so far are Barrister Nazia Kabir, Barrister Anita Ghazi Rahman and Zarin Mahmud Hossain.
A former cricketer will also sit on the five-member committee. However, the BCB has not yet decided which player that will be.
To preserve the committee's transparency, no official connected with the BCB has been included in it, keeping the process of receiving and examining complaints outside the influence of board officials.
Committee chief Rashna Imam has served the BCB before. She was in charge of the women's wing of the ad hoc committee led by current president Tamim Iqbal.
Rashna Imam is the wife of Bobby Hajjaj, the state minister for primary and mass education in the Bangladesh government.
