Two Cocktails Explode in Succession Outside a Courier Office in Mirpur; Employee Papon Suffers Burns to 20 Percent of His Body

Staff Reporter

An employee named Papon (20) was burned when two cocktails exploded in succession outside a courier service office in the Mirpur-11 area of the capital. Twenty percent of his body was burned. He has been admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for treatment. The same incident was also reported by several other media outlets in the capital, which reported one person injured in twin crude-bomb explosions.

The two cocktails exploded in succession at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday (November 3) outside the office of AGR Parcel and Courier Service in Pallabi. Employee Papon was then taken, in a burned condition, to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

The institute's resident surgeon (emergency), Dr Sultan Mahmud Sikder, said 20 percent of Papon's body had suffered flame burns. He has been admitted to the institute and is receiving the necessary treatment.

CCTV footage shows a first cocktail exploding outside the courier service; a short while later, another cocktail exploded. The clothes of the employee working there caught fire.

Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jalal Uddin confirmed the incident, saying two cocktails exploded in succession outside the AGR courier service after evening. One employee of the establishment was injured and was taken to hospital.
