Two Crude Bombs Explode Outside AJR Courier's Pallabi Office in Dhaka, Employee Injured

Attackers have exploded two crude bombs outside the Pallabi office of AJR Parcel and Courier Service in the capital. An employee of the company, Md Ramzan (21), was injured. The attack took place on Tuesday night at around 8:30 pm in the Chalantika Mor area of Mirpur-11.
AJR Courier Service's senior manager (audit) Afsar Uddin Sujan said a masked man exploded the two crude bombs between 8:35 and 8:40 pm and fled. The injured employee, Ramzan, was later sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Pallabi police station officer-in-charge Jalal Uddin said crude bombs had also been exploded at AJR Courier Service's main branch before. The Pallabi incident may be linked to that earlier one. Police are working at the scene and verifying the matter, he said.
The company's offices and vehicles have faced a series of attacks before. On 20 October, its office near Sikdar Medical College in Hazaribagh in the capital was attacked, vandalised and looted. The attackers took away the office's CCTV cameras and the footage storage device. The company alleges that several laptops and products worth Tk31 lakh were looted. Hazaribagh police have so far arrested 11 people in the case filed over that incident.
The company alleges that the attackers identified themselves as men of top-listed criminal Sanjidul Islam Emon and threatened that the land rent be paid to him. The plaintiff in that case was also threatened with death over the phone. The threat said: 'Your body will fall first.'
Then, at dawn on 25 October, an attempt was made to set fire to the Hazaribagh warehouse by pouring petrol. On the same day, an employee of the company was beaten on his way home after work and his mobile phone and wallet were snatched.
Most recently, on the night of 31 October, AJR Courier Service vehicles were attacked, vandalised and set on fire in three areas of the capital. The attacks were carried out at almost the same time in front of the Mayor Hanif Flyover toll plaza, at Matsya Bhaban Mor and in the Rayerbag area. Three of the company's vehicles were damaged. A driver was seriously injured in the head in the attack at Matsya Bhaban. A vehicle was set on fire in Rayerbag.
