Barcelona beat Aston Villa 3–0 in a UEFA Champions League league-phase match at Camp Nou on Tuesday (3 November), with Lamine Yamal opening the scoring before Raphinha struck twice in the second half.

The hosts went ahead in the seventh minute, when Lamine Yamal capitalised on a mistake by the Aston Villa defence as they tried to play the ball out.

Hansi Flick’s side added two more goals after the break. In the 52nd minute Raphinha’s deflected shot found the net to make it 2–0.

The Brazilian forward scored his second in the 64th minute, finishing from a fine pass by João Cancelo to all but settle the match.

Aston Villa created several good chances of their own, but Unai Emery’s team could not make them count in attack.

Barcelona, by contrast, kept control of the match in the second half and saw out the win.

Before the match Barcelona sat eighth in the league-phase standings with six points, while Aston Villa were second with a perfect nine points from three matches. The win moves Barcelona closer to strengthening their position in the league phase.
