BNP Leader Bullet Raises Corruption Allegations Against His Own Party's MP in Naogaon-3

A top local leader of the BNP has raised allegations of corruption, abuse of power and embezzlement of crores of taka against Fazle Huda Babul, the BNP member of parliament for Naogaon-3.
A video containing the allegations by Mahadevpur Upazila BNP President Rabiul Alam Bullet has spread on social media, sparking discussion and criticism in local political circles.
In the video, Bullet announced he would send specific information and evidence of crores of taka being siphoned off through a food warehouse and bank drafts to party Chairman Tarique Rahman. He threw a challenge, saying he would quit politics if he could not prove the allegations.
In the video, Bullet was also seen criticising the opening of a separate office in Mahadevpur with a signboard in the BNP's name. He demanded that the signboard be removed after the programme on 7 November.
Bullet said party Chairman Tarique Rahman had instructed them to stay well organised and to conduct themselves properly to earn the people's trust, and that they were following that instruction. He said he had remained silent until now considering the local government elections.
He warned that an answer would be given for the subscriptions the MP Fazle Huda Babul had taken by sending letters to every union. He said evidence of which union the BNP had asked for money from, and from whom the MP had asked for money, would be placed before the people.
Referring in the video to the fall of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina's government, Bullet said Hasina could not remain in power even though she had the police, army, BGB and administration in her hands. He commented that administrative power in the hands of any public representative is not greater than the power of the people.
Criticising the MP, Bullet claimed that an incident had also occurred in which one of Fazle Huda Babul's representatives held the feet of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and begged forgiveness to avoid arrest.
Criticising the MP's remarks on a television talk show, Bullet said the MP had there alleged that the deputy commissioner had taken three crore taka. He asked why no action was being taken on that matter.
Comparing with the time of former MP Selim, Bullet claimed that what Selim did not do in the previous five years, the current MP had done more corruption than that in just eight to nine months. He alleged the MP had taken more than three crore taka from a single food warehouse alone. He said an account of how bills were withdrawn without any work being done would also be published in due course.
Asked about the matter, BNP leader Bullet said he would speak about it at the right time.
On the other hand, asked about the allegations, MP Fazle Huda Babul said people will say such political things if one is in politics. Bangladesh is now free in terms of information flow and the BNP has opened everything up, so there is nothing to hide. Whoever has audio or statements should come before the nation with evidence.
Babul also said he is not new to politics, and many people will say many things in politics. He told journalists they could investigate freely and publish news as they saw fit.
