Shakib and Nahid Rana picked in Afghanistan Premier League draft

Two star Bangladeshi cricketers, Shakib Al Hasan and Nahid Rana, have been picked by franchises in the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) players’ draft held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Both were selected from the Diamond category of the draft held on Tuesday.

Franchise Nangarhar Cosmic picked world-class all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan from the Diamond category. Soon after Shakib’s selection, young Bangladeshi right-arm fast bowler Nahid Rana was also picked from the same category. He will be seen in the jersey of Team Paktia in the upcoming edition.

Although the two cricketers were picked in the initial phase of the draft, the player selection process for many categories is still remaining. As a result, several more Bangladeshi cricketers have a strong chance of being called up by different teams from the ongoing draft.

A total of 30 Bangladeshi cricketers registered for this year’s APL draft across four separate categories. Five cricketers each were in the top Platinum and Diamond categories, while 13 Bangladeshi cricketers are listed in the Gold category and seven in the Silver category.
