India may tour Bangladesh in January, six white-ball matches at two venues

Staff Reporter

After several postponements, the Indian cricket team may finally tour Bangladesh in January next year. Regular and positive discussions are under way between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the tour.

If everything is finalised, a total of six white-ball international matches will be played at two venues in Bangladesh in January. Under the earlier plan, the tour will feature limited-overs cricket only.

A top BCB official said the January series has a hundred percent chance of going ahead. The board is fully optimistic about staging the series and has been making plans for it from the very first day, the official said.

The tour has a history of repeated postponements. Under the original schedule, India were due to tour Bangladesh in August 2025. When the series did not take place on time, it was pushed back to September 2026.

In January this year, the BCB formally announced that India would come in September to play three ODIs and three T20Is in Dhaka and Chattogram. The BCCI, however, later postponed that tour as well.

There are now indications that, after all those complications, the long-awaited bilateral series will finally be played in January of the new year.
