SRB-6 has arrested two suspects found linked in the investigation of the murder case of Joy Dhali (25), who was hacked to death in Khulna's Rupsa thana area. They were arrested in a special operation on Wednesday (4 November) at around 2:45 pm in Char Mosabbarpur village of Srifaltala Union in Rupsa.
The two arrested are Ferdous Hossain Laden (23), son of Abdul Gaffar of Nandanpur in Rupsa, and Rana Sheikh Akash (25), son of Atiar Sheikh of Nazirghat area under Sonadanga thana. SRB said they are members of the 'B-Company', a group discussed in Khulna's criminal world.
On the evening of 15 August, miscreants hacked and slit the throat of Joy Dhali at Shahider Mor in Durjanimahal, Rupsa. The victim's mother Nasima Begum filed a murder case against 13 people over the incident.
Fifty days after Joy Dhali was killed, his father Aktar Dhali was shot dead by miscreants. Aktar Dhali was killed on 5 October at around 6:45 pm in Durjanimahal village of Aichgati Union in the upazila.
Fifteen days before the killing, on 21 September, Aktar Dhali had filed a general diary (GD) at Rupsa thana seeking security for his life. The report said police could not provide him any security.
In the GD filed at Rupsa thana on 21 September, Aktar Dhali mentioned that on 18 September at around 8:45 pm, case accused Munjil Sheikh, Murad Sheikh, Masud Molla and Ropa Molla called him to the Senrebazar area. There he was threatened in various ways to withdraw the case, and even threatened with being killed, the GD said. The killing of Aktar followed later.
After Aktar Dhali's killing, relatives said they believe his murder is linked to the murder of his son Joy Dhali. The relatives claimed people of the 'B-Company', a terrorist group built by Khulna's discussed top terrorist Roni Chowdhury alias Grenade Babu, may be involved in Aktar Dhali's killing and were also involved in Joy Dhali's killing. But family members are unwilling to accuse anyone publicly, as they do not want to get into fresh trouble.
Lt Col Nistar Ahmed, commander of SRB-6 CPC Sadar Company, said: 'In a special operation, accused Laden and Rana, found in the investigation of the sensational Joy Dhali murder case in Rupsa thana area, were arrested. They have been handed over to Rupsa thana for subsequent legal action.'
