No Emigration Clearance for Workers Going to 12 Countries Without Ministry Approval

The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has issued a new instruction on giving emigration clearance to Bangladeshi workers wishing to go to 12 countries for employment. From now on, no clearance can be given to send workers to those countries without the ministry's recruitment permission or approval.
On Wednesday (November 4), a letter on the matter was sent from the ministry's Employment-3 branch to the Director General of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET).
The instruction was given in the letter signed by the ministry's Deputy Secretary Gazi Md. Shahed Anwar.
The 12 countries covered by the instruction are Serbia, Moldova, Belarus, Congo, Russia, Japan, Iraq, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Ukraine and Libya.
The letter said that, for workers wishing to go to those countries, no emigration clearance can be given without the recruitment permission or approval of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment.
Under the new instruction, workers who want to go to the listed countries for work must first obtain the ministry's approval. BMET will then consider giving emigration clearance on the basis of that approval.
However, the ministry's letter did not mention any reason for suddenly issuing such an instruction for these 12 countries.
