British Bangladeshi Who's Who Publication and Awards Ceremony in London on 17 November
The 'British Bangladeshi Who's Who' publication and awards ceremony will be held again this year to celebrate the achievements and success of the British Bangladeshi community. Its publishing house, the Bangla Mirror Group, has formally announced the release of its 2026 edition.
The announcement was made at a press conference held on Wednesday (4 November) in the seminar room of the London Muslim Centre in East London.
The press conference was told that an awards ceremony and gala dinner will be held on Tuesday, 17 November at the Meridian Grand to mark the publication. The British Bangladeshi Who's Who enters its 17th year this year, and the publication has long recognised people in the community who have achieved outstanding success in various fields.
The publication's founder and editor, Abdul Karim Goni, said the Who's Who publication and its awards ceremony have now become an important fixture in the British Bangladeshi calendar, and that he is delighted the initiative creates an opportunity to recognise successful people in the community.
Looking back on its journey, he said that although it began very modestly, the publication and the event have now become one of the main platforms for a universal celebration involving people from all levels of the British Bangladeshi community.
He added that many real gems of the community are being discovered. However, as the publication grows, keeping the number of profiles within a reasonable limit is becoming a challenge, because the community has countless successful people, each with their own unique story.
The executive editor of the British Bangladeshi Who's Who, Suhana Ahmed, said that even after sixteen years, finding new talent and successful people in the community still amazes her. She expressed hope that this year's edition will also be well received by readers.
Distinguished guests, honoured personalities, celebrities and community representatives from across the United Kingdom are expected to attend the gala dinner. The British Bangladeshi Who's Who has received recognition from various quarters in the past, including from Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Those present at the press conference included Commonwealth Journalists Association vice-president Syed Nahas Pasha, Dr Zaki Rezwana Anwar, Taj Chowdhury, Mahbub Rahman, Shah Yusuf, Rajib Hasan, Mostak Babul of Channel S, journalist Rahmat Ali, UK Bangla Reporters Unity president Muhammad Shahed Rahman, Ayesha Chowdhury, Councillor Syeda Chowdhury and journalist Abdul Ahad Chowdhury Babu. Representing Who's Who were Barrister Anwar Miah, Barrister Nadia Ali, Mohammad Ali, Faruk Miah MBE, Hafsa Noor and Shihab Husen, among others.
